Cockapoos

A Cockapoo is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, known for its affectionate, playful, and intelligent temperament. They have a long lifespan of 12 to 15 years and come in various sizes, from Toy to Standard, with coats that are often curly or wavy and require professional grooming. 

Temperament and personality

• Friendly and sociable: They are good with families, children, and other pets due to their loving and gentle nature.

• Intelligent and trainable: They are quick learners who enjoy pleasing their owners and respond well to positive reinforcement training.

• Playful and energetic: Cockapoos have a moderate activity level and love to play, so they need daily walks and play sessions to stay happy and prevent obesity. 

Size and appearance

• Sizes: Cockapoos are bred in Toy, Mini, and Standard sizes. Toy Cockapoos are under 12 lbs, Mini Cockapoos are typically 12–20 lbs, and Standard Cockapoos can weigh 20 lbs or more.

• Height: Height varies with size, ranging from under 12 inches for Toy to 15–18 inches for Standard.

• Coat: Their coats can be straight, wavy, or curly and come in a wide range of colors like black, cream, red, and chocolate. 

Care and health

• Grooming: Their coats require regular professional grooming every 4–6 weeks, with brushing in between appointments to prevent matting.

• Health: Cockapoos have an average lifespan of 12–15 years but can be prone to certain health issues inherited from their parent breeds, such as ear infections, hip dysplasia, and cataracts.

• Diet: A consistent feeding schedule of two meals per day is recommended to prevent over-feeding and maintain a healthy weight.
